Several customer's reports indicate that Avizo 2021.x/2022.1 can be used on Ubuntu 18 and 20 after copying the libicu components available at https://fei.netexplorer.pro/dl/bA6m2D3oUs in the Amira/Avizo/Pergeos folder lib/arch-LinuxAMD64-Optimize.
A customer indicates that Avizo 2023.1 can be used on Mint Cinnamon 20.3 (based on Ubuntu 20.04) and fails to run on Mint Cinnamon 21.2 (based on Ubuntu 22.04).
